New member companies are approved provisionally, which membership then has to be confirmed by the Council of the Federation. The membership list therefore not only contains fully approved members but also those with provisional status.

The list includes all sizes of company from "small" to "international corporation", and across all facets of the industry in its broadest forms. The membership list therefore includes commercial enterprises making/dealing in machines, tools, materials and components for watches and clocks, in addition to finished clocks and watches, from turret clock size to the smallest of wristlet watches. The horological technology covers the complete range, from mechanical, through electrical, to electronic timekeeping.

British companies from any of the above facets of the horological industry that wish to apply to become approved members should e-mail the Secretary General at scchild.bhf@virgin.net and ask for a membership application form.
